Born in Odate, Akita prefecture.
After two years of work experience following university, he returned to Akita and apprenticed under his father Yoshinobu to begin his career as a magemono craftsman (a container made by bending a thin sheet of Japanese cedar wood).
Certified by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry as a Traditional Odate Magewappa Craftsman (Woodworking Division).
Winner of the National Traditional Crafts Exhibition, Prime Minister’s Award.
Certified as a Traditional Odate Magewappa Craftsman (general category).
